Reading the book, ‘Captain Flinn & the Pirate Dinosaurs’ as part of our work, has led to the children talking more about dinosaurs. So we have enjoyed a few activities this week )…

These little dinosaur soap pads were bought from eBay two or three years ago. The children used the tweezers to pick up the beads & balance them on the suction pads.

We did try it with marbles, but they rolled all over the floor & it got a little dangerous!

Dinosaur Counting and Number Recognition

Numbered stones, wood slices, wooden discs & dinosaurs…

I made this simple game a couple of years ago, but it’s still going strong… the children simply roll a dice & then add the correct number of spikes to their dinosaur.

If you would like a copy of the game, you can download it here:

…and other shape creations…

Dinosaur books, dinosaurs & mark-making materials…

…with cotton buds & dinosaur silhouettes. I saw this idea online & thought we’d have a go.

I added my homemade to the table this week, & also some dinosaurs & natural materials.

The photos don’t do justice to the reflections created, but they are amazing! The children spent a long time moving their heads round to change what they could see…

We enjoyed creating ‘impressions’ in the dough too…

We did some mark making in this too, but no pics as my fingers were covered ????

Thanks for sharing. I know I keep saying it but you have such brilliant ideas. I feel such a fraud keeping on copying you. You stimulate us as a pre-school and you are keeping us on our toes. Since following and adapting some of your ideas you are helping us to become a far better setting. I wish you were nearer to us so that we could see your setting first hand.

What a gorgeous comment, Christine! Thank you! I am inspired by all the fabulous people who share online, so I can’t tell you how thrilled I am when I hear that I might inspire others too. Really appreciate you taking time to look at my blog ????

I agree with Christine. Thank you so much for the ideas you have given us as practioners as well as parents. I love using the ideas with my Reception class as well as my children who are 5 and 8. They are never too old to be stimulated and learn. Xx
