DIY Minimalist Caged Light Fixture

I’ve gotten so many requests to do a post on this DIY minimalist caged light fixture, so here it is! I’ve had this light fixture for over a year, and never thought to make it into a DIY post because it’s so easy to do. Now that I think about it, the simplest projects are usually the best. The projects that only take minutes to complete are the ones we actually end up doing.

Step 1: Remove the end cap from the light chord by carefully unscrewing it. The chord that I have is called the from IKEA. I do not recommend this chord because it doesn’t come with a switch. I highly recommend getting one with a switch, as it will make your life a lot easier. particular one even comes with hooks!

Step 2: Using a screw driver remove the screws from each side of the light chord. Then, carefully place the light guard around the base of the chord. After this, place the screws back on and tighten them to secure the guard.

Step 3: Now you can place the end cap back onto the light fixture.

Step 4: Grab your light bulb, place it in the fixture, and you are good to go! Make sure that you choose the appropriate light bulb for your chord. The one I have takes a standard 60-watt bulb. You can choose different light bulbs to match your own style. I think that a vintage would also work really well!

I simply clipped my light fixture to the end of my shelf, but also work great!

I hope you all enjoyed this quick DIY project. Let me know what other DIY projects you would love to see in the future!
