Teen Body Proportions and How to Draw Them

This guy is about 7 and 1/2 heads tall. A full-sized adult is 8 heads tall.

Draw a line like you did with the adult.

Draw a half line notch in the center…and then 1/4 lines as well. Draw his head.

Draw the torso line and an arrow head representing the crotch line.

Draw the shoulders 2.5 heads wide…making sure to draw it down far enough to leave room for a neck.

Draw the elbows a bit above the 3rd line down…and draw the wrists a bit below the crotch line.

Draw the hands about the size of the face…and draw the arms in. Draw the hips about 2 heads wide.

Draw Knees at the half way point between crotch and feet.

Drawing a Pre-Teen in the Correct Proportions

This guy is about 7 heads tall. A full-sized adult is 8 heads tall.

Draw 1/4 lines. Draw notch line between the half and the 1/4 mark . Draw the shoulders 2.5 heads wide…making sure to draw it down far enough to leave room for a neck.

Draw the elbow dots a bit above the 3rd line down…and draw the wrist dots a bit below the crotch line.

Draw a half way notch. This is where we would normally draw the crotch area, however, children have shorter-proportional legs. So please draw the half way mark down lower…as I did.

So now, since proportions are off, please use the child’s head height as the measurement of how far down to draw the elbow.

Then draw the wrists slightly below the crotch line, like we always do.

Draw the arms in and draw the hands the size of the kid’s face.

Draw the knees at the 1/4 mark.

And as always, the feet are at the bottom line.
