Most of us have hopes and dreams that we’re wishing for. Well, at least I hope so. We want to get in shape, we want better health, and more opportunities. Sounds pretty vague, huh? That’s my point. These goals are okay, but they are not defined and there is no clear path on how to get there. Even worse, these goals probably won’t bare fruit because there is no depth to them. But don’t worry if your goals sound like these. Later on I’ll share some ideas on setting goals and sticking to them.

First things first. Before we start setting goals, let’t talk about the motivation behind it. Oftentimes we set goals, but feel discouraged when things don’t happen right away.

But, one of the most important steps in setting goals is to ask ourselves, “Why am I doing this?”

Is it for a more healthy lifestyle? Am I doing this because I want to help people? How will this benefit me?

Once we understand our motive behind it, we can . I say create because this does not always come naturally, and when it does it doesn’t always stay.

Success is not just about money, status or education. It is a powerful mindset. It is knowing we have the power to create the lives we want to live and taking the steps to get there.

Do you ever wonder why some people are successful, why they seem to get what they want and why abundance flows to them? I used to think it was luck or chance, but I couldn’t have been any further from the truth.

Setting Goals and Sticking to Them

Successful people get what they want because they know what they want and are willing to put in the hard work and effort. They set specific goals and stick to them. They don’t shoot while blindfolded and hope to hit the target. Successful people are intentional with every decision they make, and they have a plan.

Life Does Not Always Go As Planned

Now, I know you may be thinking, “Life is what happens to us while we are making other plans.” Thats one of my favorite quotes from Allen Saunders. This is true at times. But, when it comes to setting goals and sticking to them, I need to be specific.

There is no wonder why oftentimes we set goals and don’t accomplish them. In my line of work, I help guide people to find work, enroll in school and get their lives back on track.

I always ask people, “What kind of work are you looking for?” The most common answer is, “I’ll do anything.” Now, while I admire a person’s openness to do anything, I tell them they need to be more specific. After all, I cannot help them with a job search and type in “I’ll do anything” in a search.
